Judith Baker Montano es presentada este sábado como la artista de la semana. Ella es una internacionalmente reconocida artista textil oriunda de Canada.

Nació y vivió su infancia en un lugar muy bonito, las colinas de Alberta en Canada. Desde niña se crió en la tradición de la costura y el arte, enseñada por su madre y su abuela, ambas artistas textiles también. La influencia étnica le viene porque observaba mucho a las mujeres indias de la reserva cercana.

Sus estudios se centraron en arte y periodismo, pero se dedico toda su vida a lo primero, o sea al arte. Siempre experimentando con materiales, ricas telas, vibrantes colores y abalorios, creó el acolchado loco, el “Crazy Quilting.

Participado en muchas exposiciones, tanto en su nativa Canada como internacionalmente, habiendo escrito muchos libros y con muchas horas de docencia a sus espaldas, hoy su nombre es sinónimo de una gran artista textil. En esta web puedes ver mas de su trayectoria https://www.judithbakermontano.com

Judith Baker Montano is presented this Saturday as the artist of the week. She is an internationally recognized textile artist from Canada.

She was born and lived her childhood in a very beautiful place, the foothills of Alberta in Canada. As a child she grew up in the tradition of sewing and art, taught by her mother and grandmother, both textile artists as well. The ethnic influence comes because she observed very much the Indian women from the nearby reserve.

Her studies focused on art and journalism, but she devoted her whole life to the first, that is, to art. Always experimenting with materials, rich fabrics, vibrant colors and beads, she created the so called "Crazy Quilting.

Having participated in many exhibitions, both in her native Canada and internationally, having written many books and many hours of teaching behind her back, today her name is synonymous of a great textile artist. On her website you can see more of her career https://www.judithbakermontano.com
