En el actual presentamos a una artista muy especial, Lesley Richmond con textiles entre pintura y escultura. A ella le fascinan los bosques y los arboles y bajo esa temática crea obras de arte increíbles. Nativa de Inglaterra, vive ahora en Vancouver-Canada, pero su obra es conocida en el mundo entero.

Los arboles, importantes símbolos en muchas culturas, tienen algo de atemporal y mágico, y justamente eso es lo que ella consigue transmitir en su obra.

Su método es fotografiar arboles poniendo el foco en sus enredados ramajes y a continuación imprime estas imágenes en telas, utilizando un medio especial para crear tridimensionalidad. Después elimina el fondo, dejando la estructura de las imágenes como elemento dominante. Para finalizar pinta con pigmentos y patinas metálicas, dejando sublimes obras artísticas.

Textiles between painting and sculpture

In our previous post we introduced the painter Jeremy Lipking.

Today we present a very special textile artist, Lesley Richmond. She is fascinated by forests and trees and under that theme creates incredible works of art. Native to England, she now lives in Vancouver-Canada, but her work is known all over the world.

Trees, important symbols in many cultures, have something timeless and magical, and this flair is exactly what she achieves in her work.

Her method is to photograph trees by placing the focus on their bifurcated branches and then prints these images onto fabrics, using a special medium to create three-dimensionality. Then removes the background, leaving the structure of the images as the dominant element. To finish she proceeds to paint with pigments and metallic patinas, creating sublime artistic works.
