Nicole Pepper es una artista ceramista de Estados Unidos, que vive en la parte oeste del país, en la ciudad de Seattle, Washington. En la Western Washington University es donde curso sus estudios de Bellas Artes Cerámicas. Desde entonces se ha dedicado a la creación de una cerámica azul y blanca muy singular, que queremos mostrar en el post de este sábado.

Sus platos y vajillas son casi siempre contrastando azul marino con blanco/crudo. Se caracteriza por su esgrafiado floral o geométrico. Los relieves a veces son profundos, otras no tanto y es mas como un pintado. Utiliza la asimetría en sus motivos florales, lo que le da un toque muy vivo y original. Los motivos geométricos son mas uniformes, pero también ahí se permite la improvisación. Su obra en general destaca por su genuina belleza.

Con sus propias palabras: Me encanta el barro y todas las formas funcionales y escultóricas que posee. Cada pieza es hecha a mano y única y esta inspirada en la naturaleza y la vida cotidiana.

Blue and white ceramic

Nicole Pepper is a ceramist artist from the United States, who lives in the western part of the country, in the city of Seattle, Washington. At Western Washington University she studied Fine Ceramic Arts. Since then she has been dedicated to the creation of a very unique pottery, which we want to show in this Saturday's post.

Her plates and dishes are almost always contrasting navy blue with white. It is characterized by its floral or geometric sgraffito. The reliefs are sometimes deep, sometimes not so much and it is more like a painting. She uses asymmetry in her floral motifs, which gives it a very lively and original touch. The geometric motifs are more uniform, but there, too, improvisation is allowed. Her work in general stands out for its genuine beauty.

In her own words: I love clay and all the functional and sculptural forms it holds. Each piece is handmade and unique and is inspired by nature and daily life.
