Today we are going with the British artist Cyril Croucher and his very peculiar style of painting. In 1951 he was born and raised in a small town in the county of Essex and graduated in Art at Southend-on-Sea Art College, but it was not until 20 years later, that he devoted himself seriously to painting, harvesting a huge success for his paintings so out of the ordinary.
Having worked among many other trades as a shipbuilder, he was fascinated by ports and quays, and especially by the high walls and damaged buildings of the port. The unusual heights of these buildings seemed to him like cathedrals, and that is how he interpreted them in his artwork.
His paintings are created with acrylics and a technique of erasing until the colors are almost translucent. With these impressive paintings, he creates a sense of magnitude, calm and timelessness.
Croucher enjoys a great fame today and can be seen participating in many exhibitions throughout England. His works are sent to any part of the world. You can search his name on the Internet and see more about him. Unfortunately I could not find a website of his own.
Last week we presented the Russian-Scottish artist Sofia Perina-Miller.
