Heute präsentieren wir Ihnen eine ganz besondere Textilkünstlerin, Lesley Richmond. Fasziniert von Wäldern und Bäumen, schafft sie unglaubliche Kunstwerke zu diesem Thema. Gebürtig aus England lebt sie heutzutage in Vancouver-Kanada, aber ihre Arbeit ist auf der ganzen Welt bekannt.

Bäume, wichtiges Symbol in vielen Kulturen, haben etwas Zeitloses und Magisches, und genau dieses Flair erreicht sie in ihrem Werk.

Ihre Methode ist es, Bäume zu fotografieren, den Fokus auf deren verworrenen Zweige legend, und diese Bilder dann auf Stoff auszudrucken, indem sie ein spezielles Medium verwendet, um Dreidimensionalität zu schaffen.

Dann wird der Stoffuntergrund entfernt, so dass die Struktur der Bilder als das dominierende Element zurückbleibt. Zum Abschluss, um das Werk zu beenden, malt sie mit Pigmenten und metallischen Patinas, und dadurch werden sublime Kunstwerke geschaffen.

Textiles between painting and sculpture

In our previous post we introduced the painter Jeremy Lipking.

Today we present a very special textile artist, Lesley Richmond. She is fascinated by forests and trees and under that theme creates incredible works of art. Native to England, she now lives in Vancouver-Canada, but her work is known all over the world.

Trees, important symbols in many cultures, have something timeless and magical, and this flair is exactly what she achieves in her work.

Her method is to photograph trees by placing the focus on their bifurcated branches and then prints these images onto fabrics, using a special medium to create three-dimensionality. Then removes the background, leaving the structure of the images as the dominant element. To finish she proceeds to paint with pigments and metallic patinas, creating sublime artistic works.
