Die Künstlerin der Woche überrascht uns mit unglaublich schönen Textilien Sie ist Sophie Standing und sie hat sich auf die Herstellung von großen Wandteppichen spezialisiert, deren Stoffe und farbige Fäden hauptsächlich Wildtiere darstellen.

Von britischer Herkunft lebt und arbeitet sie heute auf den Seychellen. In Kenia hat sie 15 Jahre ihres Lebens verbracht, wo sie die Flora und Fauna dieses authentischen afrikanischen Landes kennenlernen konnte. Der große Einfluss, den das Land auf sie ausübte, ist in jedem ihrer Werke offensichtlich.

Die Kombination aus Applikationstechnik und Stickerei mit unendlichen Farbnuancen ermöglicht es ihr, mit so vielen Details zu arbeiten, wie nötig sind, um ein so realistisches Werk zu schaffen, das aber auch gleichzeitig sehr fantasievoll ist, da ihre Tiere voller Blumen und Blätter sind, die auf den verwendeten Stoffen gedruckt sind. Aber genau dort, in dieser scheinbaren Unstimmigkeit liegt der besondere Charme ihrer Kunst.

Fabulous textile creations

The artist of the week surprises us with incredibly beautiful tapestries. She is Sophie Standing and has specialized in creating large textile pieces with fabrics and colored threads representing mainly wild animals.

Of British origin she lives and works now in the Seychelles, but has spent 15 years of her life in Kenya where she came to know closely the flora and fauna of that authentic African country. The great influence that she took with her, is evident in each and every of her works.

The combination of the technique of application and embroidery with threads of infinity of colors allows her to enter in as many details as it is necessary to create a work as realistic as imaginative at the same time, since her animals are full of flowers and leaves printed on the fabrics used. But right there, in that apparent incongruity lies its special charm.
